Final 493 Project Blog Post

Not an outstanding semester of animation for me if I'll be quite honest. And no real excuse to write as well. But as I've received at least a good amount of compliments for the progress that I've made with my demon animation, it definitely could've had the potential to be a better semester than it could've, but I had just needed to put in the time necessary to really put out something worth showing.

My goals this semester was to make at the very least, 3 animations: My dialogue animation, a dance animation, and a parkour, fight, or another dialogue animation. However, the time management was not sufficient enough to put enough work and effort to get out and showcase my goal progress.

I had achieved at least a few ways and obstacles to avoid when going about my animation: Attempting to get bits and chunks done every day or so, rather than spending the whole day on an animation, and two, learning that classwork should definitely come first before anything else really...

What exactly was different in my animations compared to others were the fact that I like to challenge myself a little too much. Willy Wonka as a character in the movie "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" is a very hyper character. Trying to portray him as an animated character makes things alot harder, knowing that to be hyper in an animated movie or short, means extreme exaggeration, or more poses than the average character. This would mean alot more work, however this was not what dragged me down. What dragged me down was the very thought of the work, and not very much going about it, because I have the ability to do the work, just not the drive I'm presuming...

A note to my final animation for the demon... Surprise surprise, I accidently deleted my Maya file somehow when cleaning my desktop, so I began working on my dance animation this week and a bit last weekend. The dance animation was a reference to a video game character by the name of Garam in an old Xbox game named "Jet Set Radio Future".

Knowing this is the last week, the good old' "hurried rush" of the last week kicked in, and I could get at least a good amount of progress on it, however the finished product couldn't be made, as well as with my accidently trashed demon Wonka project.

In conclusion, work needs to be done; Burnout, time management, and any other excuse that should not even exist in my vocabulary should be cleared out as soon as possible, or else I'll never leave school...
